Shared Signal

Disclosures

Last updated October 9, 2026

Shared Signal uses artificial intelligence and community participation to help people evaluate publicly available information. This page explains how the service works, its limitations, and what to expect during our beta.

For additional details, please review our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

AI-Generated Evaluations

Shared Signal uses artificial intelligence to analyze articles and other content across multiple dimensions, including evidence and sourcing, reasoning, context, and potentially manipulative presentation. Shared Signal does not check whether an article’s claims are true, and factual accuracy is not graded.

Evaluations reflect the information available to the system and the methodology in use at the time. They are intended to help users think critically about content, not to serve as definitive judgments of accuracy, truthfulness, or credibility.

Each evaluation describes how one article is built. It is not a rating of the publication or the author, and it makes no finding that anyone acted dishonestly.

AI systems can make mistakes, overlook relevant information, or produce inconsistent results. Users should consider evaluations alongside original sources and their own judgment.

Our evaluation methods and grading approaches are still being developed and may change throughout the beta.

Community Participation

Shared Signal allows participants to share reactions, feedback, and perspectives on evaluated content. These contributions may help us understand where our evaluations are useful, incomplete, or potentially inaccurate.

We may use community feedback and activity to improve our evaluation methods, develop features, and better understand how people assess information.

Community opinions do not necessarily represent the views of Shared Signal, and participation does not guarantee that an evaluation will be changed.

Browser Extension

The Shared Signal browser extension analyzes content only when a user requests it. It does not continuously monitor browsing activity or track browsing history.

When an analysis is requested, article content and related information are transmitted to Shared Signal and its AI service providers for processing. The full article text is not stored in the Shared Signal database, although completed evaluations and limited supporting excerpts may be retained.

Additional details are available in our Privacy Policy.

Public Content and User Contributions

Evaluations of publicly accessible content may be made available to other Shared Signal users. User contributions, including comments and feedback, may also be visible to others depending on the features and privacy options available.

Users should avoid submitting sensitive, confidential, or private information for evaluation.

Beta Service and Limitations

Shared Signal is currently in beta. Features, evaluations, grading methods, and available content may change as we test and improve the platform.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, consistency, or availability of evaluations. Shared Signal is an informational tool and should not be treated as the sole basis for important personal, professional, financial, or other decisions.
