Terms of Service
Effective September 11, 2026 · Last updated October 9, 2026
Welcome to Shared Signal. Our website and browser extension help people evaluate publicly available information using artificial intelligence and community participation. These Terms of Service explain the conditions for using Shared Signal.
By using Shared Signal, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Using Shared Signal
Shared Signal is currently available as a free beta service. Features, availability, and functionality may change as we develop the platform.
You agree to use Shared Signal lawfully and responsibly. You may not:
- Submit confidential, private, or copyrighted material that you do not have the right to share or process.
- Use the service to harass, threaten, defame, or target individuals.
- Attempt to bypass security measures, access restrictions, or usage limits.
- Automate, scrape, or otherwise misuse the service without authorization.
- Use Shared Signal to circumvent paywalls or other content access restrictions.
We may restrict or terminate access when these terms are violated.
2. AI Evaluations and Limitations
Shared Signal uses artificial intelligence to evaluate aspects of published content, including evidence, reasoning, context, and presentation.
Evaluations are informational assessments, not definitive determinations of truth, accuracy, credibility, or intent. AI-generated results may contain errors, omissions, or inconsistencies.
Each evaluation describes how one article is built. It is not a rating of the publication or the author, and it makes no finding that anyone acted dishonestly.
Users should exercise independent judgment and consult original sources when evaluating information. Shared Signal evaluations should not be the sole basis for important decisions and do not constitute legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
Our evaluation methodology may evolve during the beta.
3. Accounts and Participation
Certain features may require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity conducted through it.
If you contribute comments, feedback, ratings, or other content, you agree to engage respectfully and avoid harassment, threats, discriminatory content, spam, or disclosure of private information.
We may moderate, remove, or restrict content and accounts that violate these terms or undermine the safety and integrity of the community.
4. Your Content and Contributions
You retain ownership of content you submit to Shared Signal.
By submitting content, you grant Shared Signal a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, process, and use that content as necessary to operate, maintain, improve, and develop the service, including its AI evaluation methods.
We may also use contributions in aggregated or de-identified form for research, analytics, product development, and related purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to submit your content.
5. Public Evaluations and Content
Evaluations of publicly accessible articles and other content may be displayed on Shared Signal and made available to other users.
You should not submit private, confidential, or restricted information for public evaluation. We may remove content or evaluations that violate these terms or raise legitimate privacy, intellectual property, or other concerns.
Shared Signal’s evaluations and original platform content may not be reproduced, redistributed in bulk, or represented as independent verification without authorization.
6. Beta Availability and Disclaimer
Shared Signal is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law.
During the beta, features may change, evaluations may be revised, and service interruptions or data loss may occur.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Shared Signal is not liable for losses or damages arising from use of the service or reliance on its evaluations. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
7. Ending Your Use
You may stop using Shared Signal at any time. You may request account deletion by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, misuse of the service, or other legitimate operational or security reasons.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as Shared Signal evolves. We will update the date above and provide appropriate notice of material changes when required.
Continued use of Shared Signal after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those terms, to the extent permitted by law.
